tl 2012 Divisional Preview tr

What a year in 2012. There is a lot happening on the political scene with elections and the never-ending primaries, BUT … when in the Vail Valley we forget the rest of the world exists and we escape for four glorious days. Eight days if you take in the U-19 competition. Each team that comes out to Vail has their own reason for coming. For some it is time to escape and enjoy a few days of their favorite game while enjoying the summer sun. For others, it is a chance to prolong their lacrosse season. Yet others come up just because they have attended the Vail Lacrosse Shootout for so many years and don’t want to miss a thing! We like the annual trek to Vail because of all the people we have met and friends we have made. The Shootout is a bit of work, a lot of fun, and great comradery. May all of you enjoy the reasons you have arrived in Vail.

Follow your favorite team as they pursue the Vail Lacrosse Shootout Championship for 2012!

From your Tournament Directors: To the fans, enjoy the Vail Valley and all it has to offer. To all teams, play hard and have fun in the 8,000 ft altitude and the warm summer sun of the Vail Valley. All the women’s division games will be played in Edwards on July 1 and 2. For the remainder of the tournament, look for them on either the field in Edwards or the Athletic field in the center of Vail.

#1 Stunner of the Month
#1 Stunner of the Month is excited to be back in Vail for our 3rd+ year at the Shootout. This year’s crew is a mix of Vail veterans plus newbies from NYC and England. We’ve added 2 sponsors to our StunneroftheMonth.com mix including JammyPack and Tuff Shed. Major thanks to our sponsors, fans, and alumni as we wouldn’t be nearly as hip and stylish without all your love and support! This year where you hear the song, "Call Me Maybe" you’ll be likely to find the #StunMoLax gals.

Brat Pack
Like what would happen if you combined a team of 17 totally awesome dudettes, half from Minnesota, half from Colorado, ranging from current college sophomores all the way up to the radical "OB" grandma status, all wearing neon colors, fanny packs and side ponies? We don’t know either, but are so totally excited to find out! Cool beans, right?! We come from an array of colleges: Colorado State, Denver, Duquesne, University of Minnesota, Wooster, Pfeiffer, St. Ben’s, Wittenberg, and Minnesota Duluth. We are a fun, light hearted team that loves to meet new people, have a good time and take things to the max! While we are extremely competitive and love to win, we probably won’t be remembered for winning the Vail Shootout tournament, but for being the bad to the bone, crazy, gnarly, fun girls who brought back the 80’s.

Team Chipotle
chi·pot·le (chi-poht-ley) “smoke-dried jalapeño chili,” from Mex.Sp., ult. a Nahuatl (Aztec) word, said to be a compound of xilli “chili” + poctli “smoke.”
Just like Chipotle delivers smokin’ Food with Integrity, our third year Vail Team Chipotle will be smokin’ the competition. The team consists mainly of post collegiate players living in Colorado who breathe easily at high altitude unlike our lowland visitors. We are players, coaches, old friends and new friends who look to demonstrate the Rocky Mountain Lax Way both on and off the field. Of course, we are not all about competition, so we will be sure to demonstrate our great hospitality and sportsmanship by treating our rivals to some rockin’ Chipotle burritos. We would like to thank Chipotle and hope to make a lasting impression on the Vail Shootout!!!

Cole Roofing
Cole Roofing reunites players who have played lacrosse together in high school or college. Most of the squad hail from Harford County, Maryland and are excited to make the trip out to Vail for another year! Our team includes players from the University of Delaware, James Madison, Harvard, William and Mary, and others. Cole Roofing is ready to come back to Vail and set the roof on fire!

Team CRSLAX.com
Glam + Fun + Leather+ Costco + Aggressiveness + Hot Pink +Lax + back slash + spandex/spanx + Reebok + dumbbells + mob wives + pop + lock + where the sun does shine + Vail Idol + squirrels+ the laxorette + Botox + karate + electrolytes + seriousness = Team CRSLAX.com Vail 2012. Brace yourself.
Basically the Avengers in kilts, with hot pink hulks. Call us, maybe?

Gang Green
Gang Green is back for its sixth year at the Vail Shootout! We have a lot of new faces on the team this year, including several freshmen from the current Dartmouth team who just won the Ivy League Championship! We are all thrilled to be back in the Rockies and to share an amazing weekend with our new teammates. The Shootout gives us an opportunity for the older Dartmouth alums to connect with the younger Dartmouth players. Additionally, we are merging family ties with some awesome talent from the Colby Mules. Can’t wait and Go Gang Green!!

LOFers
The LOFers organizers and players from their Vail women’s and men’s teams, hosted/staffed their 18th Annual Warrior Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree this year. The LOF may have set a world record for the most participants in any lacrosse event held over a single weekend this year with 443 teams competing. The Lacrosse Outreach Foundation is a grass roots, volunteer based non-profit that has been supporting lacrosse in Colorado since 1994. The Wagner Coaching Staff is the mirror image of LOF in their commitment to the well being of lacrosse in the eastern US.

Lakeshore
Lakeshore is pumped to be back at Vail reliving our old memories of Christmas trees, bananagrams, and UNO games from last year. Most of the Lakeshore ladies made the trek from Chicago and we have some players coming in from Texas, Colorado, and Michigan. Everyone on this team loves having a good time on the field, even if we get our butts handed to us, and an even better time off the field. We’ll see you out on the field or around town- NEXT!

Mile High Elite
Mile High Elite is a competitive lacrosse team that originates out of the Denver area. It is comprised of girls who have recently graduated high school and girls who are in the midst of their college lacrosse careers. Mile High Elite consists of strong student athletes who play lacrosse or are going to play lacrosse at the D1, D2, D3, or club levels. We enjoy life and more importantly lax! Shout out to Glen Coco, and go Elite!

Paradise City
Paradise City is comprised of mainly Amherst College alumnae and current students, with a few friends added to the mix. This is our first time playing in the tournament and we’re excited to once again be playing all together in the beautiful town of Vail. Marta Randall can’t wait to try her first bison burger. We all look ridiculously good in purple, can shag ground balls like no others, and will warm-up before each game with a few 300 meter sprints.

Portland Purple
Portland Women’s Lacrosse Club (aka Portland Purple) was founded in the 1980s and has been going strong ever since. Our players range in age from 22-52 and mostly played club or DIII in college. Our trip to Vail is one of our favorites all year! This will be our 4th consecutive year attending the Vail Shootout. Last year we landed in the finals and hope to do the same again! We look forward to beautiful backdrops on the lacrosse field, theme days, spicing up Vail Village, and kicking some butt on the lax field.

Tex Lax
Contrary to what our team name indicates. Only five of our players hail from the lone star state. Georgia and Philly to name a few. Wouldn’t you know it—we got a Hawaiian too. A team like TexLax you’ve never seen. Because we go REAL hard if you know what we mean. We’re ready to go, all our bags are packed. Filled with Christmas trees, songbooks, and our 90s fanny packs. If you think you love America as much as we do. Please join our parades that start promptly at 2. We’ve been training for this since last July 6. Even our girls who’ve never touched a stick. If you think you can take us—hell nah.
Because we are Texas Texas YEEHAW

Texas Swagger
We will never forget your birthday. When we quote movie lines, they are always relevant, yet not overplayed. You can totally grab a ride to practice with us. We’ll always pull you aside to discretely let you know if you’re bro-ing out just a little too hard. Do you feel like singing that one Celine Dion song at karaoke, but are just too nervous? We’ll go up there with you. At any one given moment, a guaranteed dozen of us have gum and chapstick at the ready. Texas Swagger: We dare you not to like us.

True Lacrosse
True Lacrosse is a revamped, remixed, new and improved version of last year’s QCLax team. We have played lax in college at schools such as Northwestern, Stanford, Maryland the late Ohio University women’s lax program and Albany. Our hometowns range from west coast to east coast, with many of us having ties in one way or another to the great state of Ohio. We are packing up our shrapnel to take over Vail, both on and off the field. We are excited to play under the True Lacrosse brand - you may know the guys’ True Lacrosse team from last year, now it’s time to meet their better half.

Team Wild
Although we are from Middlebury, Williams, Trinity and Marquette, when we’re in Vail, we come together as one, Team Wild. We are proud to be part of such an amazing tradition, as our team has been coming to the Vail Lacrosse Shootout for over a decade, always eager, excited and of course, perfectly styled. We are coming from all different places and from all different times in our lives, but simply our love of lacrosse brought us all together and is why this team has been compiled. Our mascot is a flamingo named Eileen, who has been with us since ’98 and although she is plastic and pink, we treat her as if she was our child. Don’t be fooled by her nice color, feathers, and beak, because we are inspired by her balance, support, and strength and that is how we like to be profiled. We play respectfully in honor of the lacrosse legend, Peter Kohn, our team manager until 2009, who spoke wise words, sung uplifting songs, and of course, always smiled. There’s no better place to be than beautiful Colorado, so we’ll see you on the fields under the blue sky and between the mountains, running around like crazy because WE ARE TEAM WILD.
