High School Girl's Division Introduction

dot

This year hails the start of a new era in the high school girls’ division.  After directing and building the tournament for 10 years, Kate Dresher has stepped down and Michelle Secor has stepped in as the new director.  Michelle has many years running the Elite Women’s Division so taking on the HS Division was a simple step.

Following the rich tradition that has been established, 24 teams will be attending the 2008 Shootout.  Each team will play three games in pool play then head to the Gold, Silver, or Bronze Brackets for tournament play to determine the 2008 Champion. Teams from all across the US and, a first, a team from Canada are vying for the bragging rights.

Returning teams include perennial contenders M&D Lax, Heros, PA Express, and Colorado.  While CTLF is usually a contender, rumor on the street is they will not be as strong as in years past.  However, I wouldn’t want to overlook them.  Long time attendees come from Houston, Connecticut, Virginia, and Chicago.  California is well represented with teams. Newer teams are leaving the Nevada desert for the mountain air or coming in from the coasts.  With very diverse geographical locales, the many teams represent the growing sport of lacrosse. Who is the favorite is anybody’s guess. The games begin Sunday morning in Edwards and continue through the championship games on Wednesday.

On the first day of the event, the Colorado 6th Grade All-Stars will be part of the regularly scheduled games.  These up and coming players will show their stuff during the six games to be played.  As tournament directors we are looking forward to integrating this event with the overall tournament.
